kite mark vs reputation?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

kite mark vs reputation?

Postby Pietrach » 5 Sep 2012 1:16

Hi
I have narrowed the choice of lock down to two : cisa astral s and abs avocet. Cisa has good reputation but no bs approved kite mark, and abs has the kite mark but poorer reputation. Which one would defer burglars better?

I would go with reputation over standards any time. The problem with standards testing is that they only test STANDARD attacks. This is why we laugh at UL437 stamps here in the US.

Go for whatever is stronger. Rickthepick tested a bunch of anti snap cylinders a while ago and the only one that he wasn't able to snap was the milenco magnum, so you might wanna look into one of those. Even if someone rips the handle off to get a serious grip on it, it's still not gonna budge. He was using a tool specifically designed for snapping cylinders out and even at full depth he couldn't break it

Not something anyone is gonna walk up to and pick easily either. I have one on loan currently and can't seem to budge it, not yet anyway
