Does anyone recognize this brand of locks? (PRO-SET)

Postby INeedHelp » 14 Oct 2012 0:34

It's a PRO-SET deadbolt purchased around ten years ago. I have three of them and want to make use of the lifetime warranty but cannot for the life of me find anything on this brand. I've checked on Google and found pretty much nothing except for this:

and

I'm pretty sure this brand was either sold at Canadian Tire, Sears, or Home Depot in Canada. Any more information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

it is one of those elcheapo lock brands that is just made in some remote Asian country. The lifetime guarantee is bogus. It is pointless too being that those locks are found at almost any Target or Kmart for about $4.00. Selling it for $10.00 is insulting the customer. You got ripped, mate!

Yeah, assuming the company still exists and you can arrange to return it for repair/replacement, you'll spend more on shipping than it's worth.

Contact Mr Foo at sales@onekeysolution.com

They are located in Kuala Lumpur and still sell these locks.

Walmart replaced it Got a Epic Locks deadbolt (uses a Weiser locking mechanism) that normally costs $16.97

Product Link: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/epic-deadbo ... l/10025531

Here is how I did it.

1. Can't find anything via Google except someone selling the same brand on Kijiji over in Halifax
2. Contact person on Kijiji and ask them for any information on the manufacture
3. Only information the persons says is that is on the packaging is the Walmart Canada Corp. Mississauga, Ontario L5N 1P2
4. Contact Walmart via 1-800 number and they have a very hard time finding out if it's a Walmart product. At first they said they couldn't figure it out with the UPC or receipt but after being on hold they said it was in fact a Walmart product and that it would be up to the store manager if they could exchange it (because I didn't have a receipt).
5. Call local Walmart and explain story. Representative tells me that her manager has said that they'll exchange it.
6. Go into Walmart an hour later and the representative at the front desk is like 'LOL u want to replace a ten year old lock, GTFO n00b'
7. Wait for manager to come from the back.
8. Tell manager my story and she says follow her over to the hardware/home department.
9. While walking she says the product is surprisingly in good condition and mentions that they did in fact sell this product.
10. When we get over to the isle with locks, I show her the picture on my phone of the packaging and she checks out a few products.
11. She says I can exchange with and Epic Locks deadbolt and she allowed me to choose a finish.
12. I choose this lock which normally costs $16.97
13. She tells me to keep my receipt next time and that she was surprised I tracked it down to Walmart
14. Tells me to go back to customer service and tell them she said I could exchange it
15. Go back over to customer service, representative is in utter shock that I was able to get an exchange
16. Sign a receipt and I'm out of there. I didn't even have to give my name or phone number (huge shock).

That is how I taught Walmart for claiming a lifetime warranty.

I WAS JUST IN WALLY WORLD THIS WEEK, AND I HAPPEN TO PASS THRU THE TOOL SECTION AND AS USUAL THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE CHEAP "BRINKS" STUFF, BUTTTTTT SOMETHING CAUGHT MY LOCKSMITH EYES LOL...

ALL OF A SUDDEN I SEE THEY NOW HAVE A BRINKS "MAX SECURITY" LINE UP! THERE IN BLACK PACKAGING AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX LISTS FEATURES SUCH AS:

GRADE 2 LEVEL HARDWARE THAT MEETS ANSI
PICK RESISTANT AND BUMP RESISTANT!
AND HERES THE KICKER! DRILL RESISTANT PINS!=THIS I HAVE TO PERSONALLY REVIEW FOR MYSELF!

BUT I DO LIKE THE WEIGHT OF THEM ..FEELS SOLID...AND THEY HAVE REALLY NICE FINISHES LIKE DARK BRONZE AND ANTIQUE BRASS AND SATIN NICKEL...

SO I BOUGHT A SET LOL...IM GOING TO TAKE THEM APART FOR PERSONAL REVIEW AND IF THEY MEET MUSTARD THEN I WILL USE WALMART FOR THOSE NIGHTS THAT I RUN OUT OF DEADBOLTS ON A WEEKEND OR AFTER 9PM LOL

EVERY LOCKSMITH ALWAYS TRIES TO STOCK UP WITH HARDWARE BUT THERE ARE THOSE WEEKENDS AND NIGHTS WHERE UR DISTRUBTOR ISNT OPEND OR HOME DEPOT IS CLOSED AND U NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE LOL..SO IF THESE WALMART MAX BRINKS ARE GOOD THEN I WILL HAVE ANOTHER PLACE TO GO FOR LOCKS AT NIGHT TIME/WEEKEND LOL...

NOW BEFORE SOMEBODY CHIMES IN AND SAIDS DONT U REKEY? = OF COURSE WE DO BUT SOMETIMES U RUN INTO A LOCK THAT HAS GLUE DAMAGE OR A SCREWDRIVER ATTEMPT AND RECENTLY A BUILDER'S BALL BEARING THAT FELL INSIDE THE CHAMBER AND WASNT ABLE TO SHIM...
FIRST QUESTION I ASKED MYSELF WAS. HOW THE HECK DID THAT GET IN THERE? LOL..BUT ONCE U TAKE THE RETAINER CAP OFF TO INSPECT THAT= IT WAS JUST FASTER TO PLACE A FRESH DEADBOLT FOR THE CUSTOMER...

ALWAYS REMEBER..EASY JOBS CAN BECOME HARD QUICK AND HARD JOBS SOMETIMES FLY SO SMOOTH THAT U NEED A EASY BUTTON FROM STAPLES LOL

First, please dont write with caps lock on - it seems like you are shouting at us.

2nd - theres an old saying....paying peanuts gets you monkeys. there is a reason that most locksmiths prefer to use quality products (unlike the garbage sold at Wal-Mart).

If you are really a locksmith then you wouldnt use that garbage!

I think u missed the part where i typed in caps:

...IM GOING TO TAKE THEM APART FOR PERSONAL REVIEW AND IF THEY MEET MUSTARD THEN I WILL USE WALMART FOR THOSE NIGHTS THAT I RUN OUT OF DEADBOLTS ON A WEEKEND OR AFTER 9PM LOL

theres a part where i typed "IF THEY MEET MUSTARD" and the second part "RUN OUT OF DEADBOLTS"

but thanks for the reply about the peanuts...ill use that line on my next cheap customer

and "ALL" locksmiths have re-keyed a cheap lock that a customer has on there door, and when trying to upgrade them to the good quality stuff, I have found out=its not what we want on there door, its what they want after you have giving them options my friend...
