Well I hate to burst your bubble but a spring loaded latch doesn't make the lock more secure, nor does the wide keyway. Most good locksmiths/enthusiasts will have a large selection of tension wrenches to take care of this problem. With regards to the heavy spring tension, it doesn't so much affect the picking as it does the turning after it has been picked, because though it may take a bit longer to pick until the picker gets the right idea on the right amount of tension to set the pins. Once the pins are set one must simply insert a screwdriver into the lock and then turn it hard to unlock it.
I personally have almost 30 different tension wrenches because I read a post by Romstar outlining the American vs. European tension theory. Basically Europeans like a snug fit because it transfers more feedback supposadly. I just had to give it a try and ended up loving it.
