Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum as you can tell. I have pretty much mastered my "ezset" 5-pin tumbler lock. I usually can crack it in under 30 seconds with a snake rake, but I know this is not much of an accomplishment. I have also been successful picking a couple of Corbin 7-pin master-keyed locks.

I just obtained a Schlage "maximum security" (grade 2) lock and don't even know where to begin picking this thing. After looking at the set pins more closely, it seems as if they have grooves cut out of them to initiate a false set. Can anyone give me any tips on picking this chunk of metal?

Hi!
I am totally new to this site and to picking. Unfortunately I am writing a paper about locks and I would be grateful if anyone can answer my questions...
I am from Germany but I need someone from an english-speaking country because I've got some very peculiar questions to some special terms... :?:
Everone having the time and nerve to answer some questions please answer...
The companies are mostly unwilling to help!
Thanks!

Hi

Postby hhifire » 12 Oct 2004 11:00

Greetings All,

Just registered with the site, although I have been actively reading posts for the past few days. Very new to lockpicking, just learning as a hobby and to possibly help me with my job (I'm a firefighter). Understanding locks, doors, and such and how to gain access is an asset for me.

I have learned quite a bit so far and that is only the tiniest drop in the well of knowledge.

Thank you for putting together a forum such as this. Great job to all participants.

hello lockpickers!
i've just joined and i have to say this is a very good site...i am and have been for the past five years a locksmith for a worldwide security company..i live and work in jersey in the channel islands.....i am an advanced student of the master locksmiths association and very interested in learning about new opening/picking techniques....
i have a very good knowledge base and can pick many locks!

i hope to benefit many in what is perceived to be a an almost secret trade..
i also hope to learn from those who open locks in a non destructive manner!

there are many hurdles and pitfalls in this trade.....adapt and overcome!

best regards to all who seek knowledge for truly it is power!

Hi!
Here are some of my questions:
I hope someone will be able to answer them...

what is it called when a cylinder lock can be opened by any key ( not only emergency keys) even if there is a key sticking in the lock on the other side?

and what is the function that enables a cam to be turned even if there is no key inserted (as in panic hardware)?

the terms used for security features: if a cylinder is protected against keying by a key other than the original one

if a lock is prtected against breaking off

protection against maniupulatin of an incorrect key

and does impression protection mean anything?

These are just some questions, if someone can answer any of them I would be truely grateful...

Thanks!!!

Greetings and welcome...you may want to start off your career here by first reading the rules of the forum, and then posting your questions (after a thorough search) in the appropriate forums.

This particular thread is simply a place for new posters to introduce themselves. Your questions will be better answered elsewhere.

Thanks for joining. :)
