Welcome to the forum! I don't know that I would call myself a "seasoned picker", but I can open a fair share of locks. When I fist started out, I would open the same lock or locks over and over and over. It's like a virtuoso musician; they say that they have some natural ability, sure, but they have put 10,000 hours into practicing their instrument! I think the same theory applies to picking locks. One difference is, of coure, there are many different kinds of locks. But get really good at the one you have, and then explore different more challenging locks.
If you have read those books and articles then you have an understanding of how the Master lock that you own works. Just keep picking hour after hour. That's my 2, and hopefully someone else here may have something a little more taylored to your specific need, but that's what everyone told me when I asked the same question; Practice, practice, practice.
It will come if you put in the time, Happy picking!
