Not too long ago, I logged on to this forum looking for a lockpicking group meeting in the San Francisco area. Sure enough, I found this thread just in time to determine that I had missed the last local TOOOL meeting. Fast-forward almost exactly a year and... I'm happy to say that thanks to a lot of great work by of a variety of folks, TOOOL SF, The San Francisco Chapter of the Open Organisation Of Lockpickers, will be meeting next weekend, on June 5, at the same great space that hosted the meeting last June, Noisebridge.

The details are below. On the off-chance you're finding this message after our June 5 meeting, fear not. A July 2011 meeting is already in the works and will be announced here once the details have been set. Meanwhile, if you can make in to SF on June 5, we'll look forward to seeing you there!

- Michael

The San Francisco Chapter of the Open Organisation Of Lockpickers
invites you to join us to learn about the history, styles, features,
and techniques for using Bogota wave rakes. This meeting focuses on
the unique characteristics and effectiveness of Bogota tools.

Please join us for a interactive, 120-minute presentation by Christina
Palmer. Christina will demonstrate both picking and how to make your
own set of Bogota rakes from stainless steel windshield wiper blade
inserts. Afterward, she'll entertain Bogota-related Q&A and, for those
new to lockpicking, questions about basic tools and techniques.

Host: Organizer Kai, founder of TOOOL San Francisco
Cost: Free
Where: Noisebridge at 2169 Mission St, San Francisco -
https://www.noisebridge.net/
When: Sunday, June 5, 2011, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Questions about the meeting time, place, or program? Post them here,
or contact Michael Fitzhugh <michael@objectif.org> / 415-269-7757.

TOOOL SF is the San Francisco chapter of the the US Division of The
Open Organisation Of Lockpickers.

Hey guys,

Brand new to the Bay and a neophyte lock picker. I am looking for a little help with an informal event Sunday. We are working to fuse the worlds of Special Operations, hard skills training and physicality to inspire innovation. I need some lock-picking expertise for the first pilot program! Would love any referrals. For this first one I am not working with any real cash, but an hosting a dinner after the event and would be happy to feed you. See below for more details.

What do military Special Operations, Entrepreneurs, extreme physical duress and urban tactical skills have to do with innovation? Everything.

We are experimenting with fusing the world’s of combat tactics and unit operations, unchecked physical exertion, entrepreneurial acumen, and hard skills training to facilitate a new approach to innovation.

You will interact with a special operations US Air Force Pararescueman, a sand dune, the Bay, lock picking challenges, and unit integrity building exercises. This is a physical and cerebral bacchanal designed to provide individuals with an appreciation for team, and the tools to thrive under duress and in the face of adversity, common in the start-up world and in combat.

This is the first in a series of events and is being co-hosted by Sara Peck the founder of the Walk and Talk Series a monthly experience designed around movement and thinking, exploring the relationship between conversation and physical activity, designed for a small, trusted group of friends and comrades.

Please message or call me if anyone out there knows of someone who may be interested in getting involved.

I am sorry if this post is in any way inappropriate for this board.

Thanks

Jesse

Could it be time for our next meeting already?

Shockingly (and wonderfully), yes!

You are cordially invited to join us at the September meeting of TOOOL SF, featuring a special presentation by Dennis McEntire of Bay Area Locks on bump keys and bump-resistance.

When?
Sunday, September 15, 2013, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Where?
Sneha Grand Indian Buffet, 1214 Apollo Way, Suite 404 B, Sunnyvale.

You can find directions to Sneha and the menu here:
http://www.sneharestaurant.com/

The buffet is about $12, including tax. Don't be too late. The buffet is closed and the staff take a break between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

While there's no need to purchase the buffet lunch, please strive to be a good patron by ordering some food or drink. Our hosts at Sneha allow us to stay and meet during a time that they are normally closed. Let's return that kindness.

Sadly, our expert guide to the buffet (Christina) won't be able to join us. So bring you're intrepid tastebuds. We're going to have to ferret out the most delicious dishes on our own.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

If you can't make it, do plan to be at our next meeting: Sunday, October 20 in Berkeley.

Darn, I thought you meant NORTHERN California.... Bay Area is MID California... How disappointing! That's 300 miles away from me. I AM honestly happy for all the people in that area that can now participate (I just wish I hadn't gotten my hopes up before I read the post lol)
Need more input!

Though my earlier intention to update this thread with all the upcoming meetings of TOOOL SF's upcoming meetings fell by the wayside, I'm a big believer in perseverance :D... so here it goes again:

You can now find a listing of all upcoming meetings of TOOOL's San Francisco Bay Area chapter at Meetup.com, here: http://www.meetup.com/toool-sf-bay-area/

If you'd really rather just get announcements of upcoming meetings by email, I invite you to add yourself to our announcement list here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/tooolsf-announce

Last, if you want both meeting announcements and discussion of local TOOOL-related info delivered to your mailbox, once you have attended one local meeting or you and I have met in some other capacity, you can email me directly at michael.fitzhugh@toool.us or PM me here to request access to that mailing list.

I'm planning on being around these pages a little more than usual in the coming months after being inspired by legion303 to jump back in. I look forward to connecting with y'all.
