If you're developing a NEW lock, one would assume you already have a good handle on the shortcomings of OLD or existing locks. Probably good to learn what's out there first, and how they work, and then try to design a new one.

What model do we consider what at this time? Your sentence is incomplete.

Don't waste your time with old technology! Get the KABA X-10 for a starting point.

From the manual:

Electromagnetic Pulse: Meets FF-L-2740B specification for simulation of high altitude nuclear blast.

Kaba x-09 is sooo yesterdaaay! I wouldn't put it on the toilet... What will the neighbours and friends say when they see it? Gosh, I cannot be seen with that old crap.

Thanks for calling the new model to our attention Gordon!
I am so curious about all the details what did they change... The prospect you linked to is surely a very interesting read.

I already found the x-09 was an incredibly good and secure lock, good to see they don't sit on their successes but move along and improve their already good stuff.

Chrissafe:
If you accept my advice you should read up a considerable amount in safes and then come back with much more specific questions.
Get some sage locks and take them apart.
A read though Lock safes and security and high security mechanical locks and encyclopaedic reference would be highly recommended to get the principles of locks right.
For some visual inspiration I would look up the "American Genius" by David & John Erroll

You could try this method of inventing: "I was standing on the edge of my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, I slipped, hit my head on the sink, and when I came to I had a revelation! A vision! A picture in my head! A picture of this!" Doc Brown.

Or you could do some research on safes the old fashioned way and build on that, i.e., what Arf-Gef said...

Just a quick note, OP is from Spain, and has not logged in since June 20th.

There may be a language gap so that explains the incomplete sentence I commented on above.
