A picture would help a lot here, I can't recall seeing a Kwikset privacy knobset without screws on the inside. Does this thing have a real lock cylinder with a key, instead of a paperclip hole to unlock from the outside?
I'm shooting blind here, but my guess is there's a slot or hole on the shaft of the inside doorknob where you can push with a screwdriver or punch to remove the doorknob. Then you'll be able to completely remove the inside escutcheon, and from there the remaining dissasembly should be obvious.

Old kwikset style. Those arrows you mentioned need to be rotated (more than 15 degrees, more like 30, the full length of the track), there should be two arrows, one on either side of the escutcheon. The arrows can be pretty tight, so just pushing one arrow usually doesn't do it. use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool on both arrows at the same time, rotating them the same direction. With this done, the inside escutcheon will come off, and expose the mounting screws. Installation is reverse of the above.

Does it have tiny metal pins or slats in the shaft under the knob (right above the plate that covers the hole in the door) that you can push in to release the plate? I've encountered a few of those in door hardware, without visible screws.
