I have seen some sources divide pump locks and lever locks as separate categories, and some seem to group them together. So my question is, are pump locks a type of lever lock, or are they mechanically different enough that they can be considered a separate category?
For example, a Bramah lock has no levers but sliders with corresponding notches that align at a circular shear line. A Fichet 787 has levers and gears, but is called a pump lock like the Bramah is despite having levers. I am confused...
