Peterson Picks for Euro profile lock 2

Postby jimmytt » 10 Nov 2013 18:12

Hey guys, just wondering does anyone know the best Peterson pick set for Euro profile locks (UK) ??
Simply any set that apply specifically to Euro UK profile locks would be great.

I'm torn between which individual picks to get, and from what series....any help would be most appreciated.

1.Peterson EURO Series Picks

2. Peterson SLENDER Series Picks

3. Peterson DCAP's

Thanks guys

Hay jimmy,

I see this is a follow up to your previous post of getting picks, but I'll post my reply here since it's specific.

You'll find you'll get differing suggestions on this, since as you get more specific, you get more personal preferences. But still, I'll give you mine.

1. Get the Diamond, Gem, Hook1, Long Ripple, Reach

2. As above

3. Hook1, Lifter

I like the mini ripples, but I find they are much more suited to wafer locks.

Get yourself one of those tough as nails bi-fold or tri-fold cases, and some pry-bars.

Thanks so much mrAnybody for answering my amateur questions.

And i know this is just down to personal preference, but what do you prefer Peterson's Euros or Slenders?

I prefer both, even though I use the Euros far more. The plus to the slenders is that they're intended for very narrow keyways. The minus is that they are nowhere near as strong as the Euros, and as a result, (now I think about it) probably not as suited to beginners. Too much pressure and you'll be pulling a tin-foil pretzel out of the lock :)

I find the slenders to be a useful part of my kit, they are great tools for some circumstances. However, if you have to choose between Euros and slenders, then Euros it is.

While knowing you haven't asked this I'll say it anyway - Peterson Euros and Southord MAX (0.023) hooks. Those MAX picks are so much more narrow (I don't mean thin) than the Petersons. They give great strength and feedback while more far more maneuverable in narrow keyways. And the handles are great.

I personally just got the Peterson phoenix ultimate pick set and am loving it! but depending on your price range I would maybe recommend the 20pc set, the slenders are really nice to have, however as my.anybody said they are not nearly as strong i remember the first few i got.... they are terribly deformed now lol so i woudl defiantly recommend some practice picking but they are great for para-centric key ways, the DCAPs im new too but have been pinning a few of my locks for them and i got to say from what i have currently felt they r worth it, i haven't found use for the lifter pick yet however, i find it a little off maneuvering it around the key way

but if your price range isn't quite high enough for the 20pce set I would recommend
- a Bi/Tri fold case
-euro series hooks #1, and a low profile how maybe a #2-4
-half diamond
-hooked diamond(deforest diamond)
- double + triple rake
-optional the ripples

-the slender series my favorite picks are the half diamond and the gem

-DCAP3 set is nice

-both peterson prybars
and I personally enjoy the U bend it kit however all you really need is some pliers and a windshield wiper for tension tools so whatever floats your boat there

-and as to where to order form i woudl highly recommend straight form Peterson, you can add a few extra spring steel picks that cost like 1/3 the amount of govt steel ones to try them out learn, and who cares if u deform those you can buy 3 for less, also their customer service is amazing i ordered a few spring steel DCAPS for myself they ended up being on back order, and they gave me a full set of govt steel ones free upgrade =)

Do you get the red handled lifter pick and the tension wrench bending tool included in the ultimate kit?

It doesn't mention them on the website. Sent an email, but not heard back. Would like to order the same kit you just got.

Thanks
