This is the second time in two days I had to log in to find out that I had messages in my inbox, which makes me wonder which admin or mod here has gotten into my account & turned off All my notifications? I have been a mod in the past on a different forum, so I know it it sure as hell didn't turn itself off. Step up Coward or make things right & put my notifications back on

I assure you nobody is editing your profile options, but I will say calling out the admin and mod team like this is in very poor taste. Check you email spam folder if you are not seeing emails from the forum, or whitelist forums@staticusers.net which the notifications are sent from. I checked your settings and they were already set to Yes for all notifications. I noticed you have a hotmail address, other members here cannot get lp101 notifications to their hotmail. As already stated, check your spam box or white list the forum. Have a sparkling day, Squelchtone

I only "called out" the staff because even with hotmail I have been receiving notifications since the day I began. I have received at least 200 notifications so not receiving them was a surprise for me. As I use a mac there is no spam box to check. Thank You for the Sparkling Wishes and Thank You for your quick reply

So you have your mail client configured to check the hotmail... that doesn't mean you can't go to hotmail.com and login and check there. Like I said, we didn't do anything to anyone's settings. If you experience technical issues in the future and are certain it is something to do with the forum, please consider sending a mod or admin a PM. I work in IT and sometimes users tell me they didnt get an email and whats wrong with the system, and I go into their inbox and notice they read the email on their mobile device or read it at 8am when they got into the office, then other emails came in over time and they didnt notice the email they were looking for 15 emails deep. Is it possible the notifications you say you didnt get were already read and you just forgot about them? either way, it's just an internet hobby forum and they're just notifications for private mail, nothing to get bent out of shape about, right? I apologize, Squelchtone, of course you are right and I did send a mod a PM before I got all pissed off over the whole thing. I assure you that I did not read the notifications before I received them, as since 4/27 I have not received a single notification from this site. Of course I do not think You had anything to do with my missing notifications, as I have read many of your postings on here and I consider you to be above reproach.

It is not just you. With hotmail sometimes I get notifications from here and sometimes I don't. I think it is just a quirk when using hotmail.

This brings up the topic that I need to do some Spring cleaning on the mod and admin contact list, as some folks are retired, some visit only once in a while and some are part of the active team.
Thanks everyone, Squelchtone

Have you ever stopped to consider that as a FEATURE of the phpBB system.. a lot of system which are used to send user notifications have a feature to turn off the emails if they get an active "rejection" message from your mail server ( in this case hotmail).. hotmail is not the most stable mail system and I've often gotten messages when trying to send people emails and then on an immediate resend it will work.. has your hot mail box reached it's limit.. that could be why it sent a reject message back to the phpBB system and it turned off the automatic notifications.. Also, any mail message CAN take up to 3 days to get if it was rejected the first time, and the system attempts to queue it for later delivery.. again hotmail has been know for stability issues and late deliveries..

I chewed the phone company guy's a$$ the other day when my internet fees doubled & they offered me a special deal. I bet it has my internet going so slow or something. I noticed if I try to send two messages at one time trouble begins.

It's a conspiracy.

Noticed late last week that I was not seeing notifications that I was accustomed to getting. Using gmail. Check my spam folder, and sure enough, there they were. Guess some of the spam filters for the various email providers have been updated. Anyway, problem solved. It is not just hotmail.

hotmail is owned by Microsoft if I am remembering correctly, and Microsoft has recently cranked their spam filtering products up to 11. It's so bad that our county government currently cannot reply to email from our state government because the state is contracted with Microsoft and reply emails contain active links which are all automatically blocked.
I'm also in IT, and as the state guys aren't getting back to me about the problem, and neither is the help desk for the spam solution, I've told all my users to start sending their replies by fax. This pains me terribly, as I personally feel very strongly about all fax machines going away, but it will put the pressure on the state's IT department to get it figured out rather than having them tell me it's not their problem.
