Dormitory Electronic Locks

Postby DeepToot » 1 Oct 2014 19:33

Hello,
I live in a dorm and we use a Schlage keyless entry door locks with a number pad on the door. I seem to leave my card that I swipe to get into the building, on my floor, and into my room inside my room on the regular. My school charges a $20 fee every time you forget your card in your room because they have to issue you a temporary card that has to be returned as soon as you get a hold of your main card, as the computer system (I think) deactivates your card and activates the temp one. I was wondering if it was possible to bypass the (i'm assuming) proxy reader that reads the cards when you hold them up to the sensor. To physically get into the dorm room, you must place your card against the sensor of the door, once it receives the signal you then press your combination on the doorpad. I believe that if there is a way to trick the door into thinking that I have the card and then pressing my combo on the keypad, I should be able to get in, however, I have no idea if there even is a way to override or bypass the proxy lock system. Sorry if I am not using the correct terminology, like i said, i have no idea, I know just the very basics of lock picking.

Sorry bro, not gonna happen. Because of things like sexual assaults on campuses being a very hot topic in the news, we cannot in good faith be telling people how to trick out or bypass prox card locks so they can get into a dorm room or suite.

We have an Advanced topic area for trusted and vetted members where we could bounce some ideas around, but it is not info we want to float around in public, as the next bad guy who googles this topic can find it way too easily, even if you yourself are not up to anything bad.

If you can remember your cell phone, you can remember your prox card, get a cell phone case that allows you to slip a card in the back, that's the best advice I can offer.
