It's cracked, not working

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

It's cracked, not working

So I got a safe at a garage sale, it came open and with the lid detached. it's electronic and did not have a battery in. It also came along with a white envelope with the words "safe Code" written on it, inside the envelope was a scrap piece of paper with an 8 digit code written on it. I assume this code is the master code?

anyway I fitted a battery and it made a single beep of joy, and a thanking green light started to flash , but thats as far as i got, because no matter what I do, the safe will not lock/unlock.

so i went on the internet in search of the manual but to no avail.

the safe is black, and have the "chubb black box" logo on it.
external dimensions H/W/D = 320/440/395 (mm) weight = 45 kg
internal dimensions H/W/D = 240/360/300

now that was ample info, and I managed to find it's model no to be "3030"
even with all that info I'm still unable to figure out how to work it. please help.

oh and you want to see it? well I made this video just for you:

I haven't seen one of these safes, but at a guess it's likely the bolts are not free to lock until either the door is closed- (Don't lock the door closed until you figure out the combo), or you press the release tab, which is usually located on the door near the hinge side. I would think the blinking green light is a countdown for a wrong-try penalty.

Have you considered that it may just be broken and that is why You got such a deal?

Sometimes the boltwork binds up against the solenoid. Creating friction on the bolt work.

1. Figure out which way the handle is turned to open.
2. Turn the handle the opposite way and try again (This is not normal, but does work sometimes)
3. If it opens, you have to either adjust the solenoid or lock so that the solenoid does not block the boltwork until you try the handle.
