Moi Bera!
Täällä ollaan, yksin vissiin. :(
I guess with 90% Abloy locks, Finland is not very active on the lockpicking front.
A meeting would be nice, but I´ve only seen pickers one at the time.
If you come to Capital area, PM me and visit my shop!

You know Jaakko lives in Tampere, or at least he use to. You should PM him and say hello.

Moi kaikki,

I'm new to this forum and pretty much to the hobby as well. Has anyone of you tried the digital_blue progressive drill ( viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10677 ) and if so, which lock have you used? Can I get a good lock for that purpose from Finland?

Thanks,
Timo

If you can't get them there in Finland, we might work out a trade. Always happy to add an Abloy or two to the collection. :)

Moi!
Not many pintumbler doorlocks here in Finland. You can order them from other countries tho, 5-30 euros + shipping.
Biltema used to sell a copy of Assa 700 series lock for about 40 euros. Its a 7-pin lock with security pins so I suggest you take a couple pins out first.
Or as Gordon suggested, get a couple of Abloy locks and offer them for trade here.

Thanks for the answers! Gordon, maybe we can make some kind of a trade happen, but I want to check out what I can get from here first. It's not a bad idea though!

Wizer, is this something like you had in mind:

Yes, that is what he was talking about. Have one of those Bitlema locks in my collection. A nice pick, but it does (as Wizer stated) have spool and double spool pins. Luckily there is no counter-milling in the pin channels. The lock will be a bit of a pain to disassemble, but if you look around the forum, you can find methods of disassembly.

I got it disassembled alright, but it surely has safety pins - six out of seven! Three spools, three double spools and ONE regular driver pin.

Also, what's the purpose of these two little (steel?)rods? Making drilling harder?

I guess I messed up with the links. Let's try again:

Hi,

Yes, the 2 rods are for drill protection.

Also, since you new to the hobby, most of us here call the driver pins that are spool or mushroom shaped "security pins", not safety pins.

This is what we call safety pins:

and spool pins are called spool pins because they look like a spool of sewing thread:

hope this helps,

 funny enough my first home made rake pick was from a safety pin, and it opened ABUS padlocks with spool pins very very quickly. I used some pliers to make a /\/\/\ shape bends in the safety pin.

Greetings from Helsinki!

Is this thread still active?

Thought I´d introduce myself here.
I work in security company as a chief security officer. One aspect of my job is to improve daily security in shopping malls and other estates.
I don´t know much about locks, and this seemed to be logical and fun way to learn about locks.

I received my first pick set and couple locks two weeks ago (including one cutted lock to help training pin feel). Since then i´ve been playing with those and low quality locks became
easy to pick very fast. I came to conclusion that this is fun and very addictive hobby and I want to learn more. I think this is the right place to suck information :)

Where do you buy your quality locks, with security pins in Finland?
Does anyone know where to get pick tool for Abloy classic disc detainer locks, with reasonable price ( not like tiirikointi.com abloy tiirikka 229$)
Jaakko, if your´e reading, do you still make those?
