WooHoo! First lock open, Castle 400/40

I just opened my first lock (with picks, did have success with another lock and two bobby pins last week) It was a "Castle" lock N. 400/40, and the binding order seemed to convieniently be 1-2-3-4

Nice job man.

Observations: I like the hook pick in your set, that little cradle in it helps align directly under a pin a scoop it up. That half diamond seems really too low to work every time you choose to use it, and I'm not a fan of that style of tension wrench that a lot of these import kits include.

Search the forum for making tension wrenches out of windshield wiper inserts, or read this Locksport International Guide to Lockpicking, it has some nice comic book style visuals: http://www.lockpickguide.com/support-files/lsiguide.pdf

Happy reading,

Congrats on the first pick! It's quite a crystallizing moment when you realize that such a thing is not only possible but in some instances easy. Hollywood wasn't totally lying! If you are anything like me after a few months your locks will be approaching triple digits...

Yea I did have some false sets, but had to reset it because I overset something (I think), and that moment when you're just about to put it down and the wrench turn to unlock, let me tell you, my heart skipped a beat
