Thoughts and comments about the BluePunch/Armbuster.

I am thinking about purchasing a BluePunch BP201IC for originating BEST keys and was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this device and if so what are your thoughts about it's build and ability to do the job?

What has my attention is the price and size, but I have no idea of it's quality or build.

My needs are to be able to originate a small number, maybe 100 or so keys per year.

Any comments or thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

I've had a couple kwikset and a schlage blue punch. Never tried one for best. As mine wore both kwiksets the blanks tipped slightly more and more which resulted in tapered cuts. If that occurs on a best lock you're out of luck.

I own 3 Pro-Lok punches for SFIC and 2 for Schalge.

Each has cut tens of thousands of keys and the only issue I've ever had was broken springs and worn punch and anvil sets. Excellent machine that is built like a tank and idiot proof in operation.

Once you calibrate the machine after you get it, it should never need any adjustment unless it is dropped or abused. If you are only doing 100 keys a year you will never have to replace a punch and anvil. Order spare springs when you purchase it. I have seen them last for years and I've seen them break after a few weeks.

Exactly! We have 4 punches. 3 for Best and one for Keymark. I can cut much faster with the punch than on a normal duplicator and everyone is an 'original' instead of a duplicate. If you need to compensate for worn pins you can move the depth slide a little while cutting. I have never used one for normal cylinder keys but cannot see why they would not be good. They are quiet and do not require electricity. They are VERY portable and can be carried on to a job site with ease.
