I am presently looking for a lock that can be used with truck storage door latch, but that is pretty secure. The original lock it came with didn't leave me with much confidence and I replaced it with one of the older abloy locks. I discovered that doing that manoeuvre presented another challenge, that you couldn't remove the key when the lock was unlocked, which is a feature that I would like.
So away I went and ended up with Medeco and ordered a lock, key and the hole shebang thinking I was finally getting it all together since i had taken measurements etc to ensure I at least would get the right stuff. Well I just tried to install it and the length is all screwy and not what I think I originally did order. So I am now looking for another alternative....
The present lock installed looks like this:

And you can sorta see where it all went horribly wrong, and thats even WHEN I am using one of the shrounds. The abloy lock I have has a more appropriate length than the Medeco, but with a plastic end piece and the key can't be removed so that is not really a viable solution... for me.
But the lock that I have is this, and the images display it with the original lock it came with:

And as you can see I have some issues with the length of the medeco and actually finding an endpiece that will fit the medeco and actually "lock" the slide in place.
So my question to you all are. What options do I have if I want the key/lock to be secure or secureish as in someone can't just hammer a screwdriver in and get it to unlock, or pick it with ease. But at the same time I want to be able to remove the key when the lock is unlocked & I don't have a length issue to deal with. Either because the lock isn't long, or because it comes with or can come supplied with an endpiece that suits my needs.
If measurements of the actual "hole" for the lock is needed just let me know and I will be happy to get them posted in here asap. Same with any other measurements that you might need in regards to this lock.
But I am looking forward to hearing from you all and hope someone might be able to direct me to the right lock for me
