Weird master #140

Hello, so I'm new to lock picking. I've been practicing spp on a few locks I own and my friend gave me a #140 he lost the key to. I noticed that I can feel all the pins, however, when I go to pick it if I hit pin 1 and pin 3 and set those first, and only those, the lock opens. I've picked other 140s and am curious why it's only happening on this one. Any ideas?

Because the bitting of the key did not require the other pins to be lifted.

You just got a visit from dumb luck.
I have 3 of those 140 keyed alike, one
is not to bad the 2nd was more trouble the 3rd I'm still working on.
My visit from dumb luck was on a master lock #750, it was the
1st lock I picked, opened it under 15 sec. have not been able to get it open again.
