Old S&G safe lock 6709

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Hi, I'm new to the forum & need some help finding a lock for an old "Johnson & Pacific" floor safe. It takes a 670. Type 2 lock. If anyone has some information for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Is the current lock totally missing from the door? do you have the case, dial/spindle, dial ring, back cover / wheel pack, fence arm/ bolt? Some safe guy out thereprobably has one sitting on his shelf, and they show up on ebay once in a while, but not something you can order. Where in the USA are you? There's a place in Boston and a place on the left coast that can probably get their hands on that model for you. There's also a generic version of that lock that Meilink used, are you in need for an accurate lock for a safe restoration project, or just the same foot print so you can make a working/usable safe? is this for a 6 inch round door where the hinge is attached to the safe body with big allen bolts?

a photo of the inside of your door where the lock goes would help out a bunch, upload it to your favorite photo hosting site and copy/paste the link here. http://imgur.com allows easy uploads and sharing.

Thanks

I have the old lock, and all the parts. My problem is when I drilled into it, I hit the lever & took out the end that drops into the wheel pack ! :( I'm in Arizona & have tried a couple of the good safe guys here, but, no luck. Your right, it is a small 6" round door w/ the Allen bolts. No I'm not doing a restoration on it, it just needs to work & go back in the hole. Unfortunelly, I'm not good at doing the picture thing.

I think drilling into the lever and fence are actually the recommended methods of opening these, or they mention that it's hard to avoid it in order to scope the lock. I put a feeler out to someone who might have what you need, I'll let you know when I hear back from him.

Cool - another Arizonan! Welcome. Unfortunately, can't help with the safe lock, but glad to see another desert rat. :)

When you create problems like this for yourself just plan on making a new part, the fence, and putting it in where the drilled off one was. You can freeze in place with some solder. Dont worry too much about really old parts, just make them. Dont forget to etch some beautiful scroll work on it.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.
