Just got started messing round with this hobby, got a door lock (no i dont need it, just a old door with a lock) its a quickset lock i think, anyway, sometimes when picking the plug will turn but its still locked, just wondering what causes this?? Thanks for any time and answer.

Hi,
So just to confirm, you pick the Kwikset and the plug turns 90 degree to the left or right and it is still locked? The mechanism inside only unlocks if the tailpiece on the back of the plug turns in the correct direction, so if you're picking it and turning the plug clockwise, try picking it and turning counter clockwise, or the opposite of what ever direction isn't working for you right now.

Hope that helps,
Squelchtone

You may want to pick up or make a plug spinner. There are great reviews and tutorials on this site to help. There is some skill to using them and it would be a good thing to practice when you happen to go the wrong way. Sometimes it's easier to pick a lock the wrong way and spin it the other way.
