I like the design concept of the lock, I will admit that. However, I would never use it to secure my home. I love the lock as a hobbyist because it isn't exactly easy to pick and once I pick it, I can throw in another key to change the wafer combination and it is like having a different lock (except for the setting order of the pins). I certainly do not believe it to be a secure lock and am troubled by how much undeserved credit it is getting, and in turn how many people are putting their utmost faith in the lock to secure their home.

I agree with you wolf on the lock getting a ton of good reputation when it can be so easily bypassed. So to remedy this "security issue" I chose to secure my residence with a kwikset smart key entry knob (for pick resistance), and a Master Nightwatch Deadbolt (with a kw1 keyway) and 4 spool pins with high low bitting, as well the as the bumpstop pin. Worst case, it will take them plenty of time to get in, considering the frames are re-inforced with security plates lol.
It was my stubborn way of saying to a burglar "if you can get past this door, then you deserve to get in". That being said, locks only keep honest people honest lol.

Can you use a tension wrench when picking and pressing in the reset key?

Picking them for fun is part of the participants on this site are all about and look forward to.... but these locks need to be disclosed to the public everytime a locksmith sees one. They are not vunerable from picking... they are vunerable to (destructive entry). They buy a new lock.

Many people have doors with glass windows or sidelights and have rocks nearby. Any burglar who wants in could, without difficulty, pick up a rock and throw it through the window. I would expect that many burglars who would be inclined to destructively open a SmartKey lock would be inclined to smash a window if they couldn't force the lock. In either case, there would be clear evidence of forced entry, but replacing the lock would likely be cheaper than replacing the window.

These can be raked open without losing the key biting. You don't even have to use the smartkey slot. Just top of the key way tension.

I saw a video by Bosnianbill where he demonstrated raking one open using a "quin-rake". I thought for sure there was no way I would be able to duplicate this method, but after some practice I was able to get it using a homemade version of the sparrows worm. I had to start over a lot and it still takes me some time, but it works.

Depends wildly on the bitting the lock's set to. It's a stretch to say that they all fall open with a little rake action. SmartKeys set to an uncomplicated bitting can fall open with BOK tension and a straight wire used as a rocker pick; more extreme bitting can be a nightmare pick.
