Seccureme key duplicate ?

Postby dimlead » 3 Nov 2016 12:50

Friends i need little help here. I know the question may sound stupid but i am very paranoid since i belive someone is intruding my home undetected. I am currently buying a d-link camera as i was adviced by people from this forum. However here is my question- we are using standart Securreme lock. If someone had access to the key how easy and how much time he will need to duplicate the key? Again, i am talking about Securemme type of lock.. Thanks in advance :)

Securemme makes many different locks. Which model do you have?
Some keys are easy to duplicate, others aren't.

Don't post a picture of your key here. Just the lock model is enough.

Out of curiosity, how did you get that particular brand? It's an Italian lock :)

Hi there femurat :) I am from Bulgaria, i am totally unaware of locks and so on, i am currently living with my sister for couple of months and my father placed that lock when she bough the apartment. The thing is she had a bad realtion with her ex-boyfriend and she fears he keeps entering the apartment (we noticed a few strange things happening while no one was home like moved objects, laptop and so on). I talked to my father and he said that kind of key cant be duplicate unless some special master key or something like that but i didnt understand him and i also think he just says that to makes us calm down. I dont know how to tell the lock's model but i will ask him again. The key itself is massive and looks very hard to copy with a lot of curves, but again i have no knowladge about how this happens. She never gave her boyfriend a key but still he was around for sometime and may had take it for hour or two without her noticing..

I've looked at that model and I guess it's possible to duplicate a key by bringing it to a locksmith.

A locksmith with the right machine and blank can copy any key in minutes. Sometimes he also need a property card with a number on it. This is not the case.

Cheers :)

Thanks for the help femurat. :) Just one more question, on the key it's spelled PATENTED, does that mean something, or it doesn't matter for the locksmith :)

It makes no difference. A patent has nothing to do with key duplication. A patent protects a new invention from being duplicated by others for a set period, typically 20 years.

Ok but still he would need a blank for the key, right? I mean our type of key seems a lot differnt (not just the shape, the enitere constructuion, i dont know how to post a photo here of similar one but it's not the usual tiny keys people use like in the States)? This guy had only an hour (maybe 2 at most) in which he was left alone in the house, he had never seen the key before, and he did not knew where the key was left, so he had to search for it, then go to a locksmith, copy it than get back and leave it where he found it? My father (who installed the lock in my sister's place) says that he first must order a special securemme blank key, than he must have the key so the locksmith to use it to duplicate it and so on, he says that its impossible all this thing to be done in a matter of hour if the guy we fear may did it had never seen the key before?

If you want here is a similiar key (Not mine, but looks very similar) i found online. Thanks again

I ask all of this because we fear a person is entering our place when we are out, we have no neighbours on our floor (new building), we are currently buying a camera and we will change the lock.
Thank you for your support :)

Guys...
Here in Italy Securemme is considered low level, even in their best cylinder, the K5, you can tell they don't possess the sharpness of a Mottura, the finishing, the overall quality of process and material. In addition, copying their keys is way easier than others, even with protected keys...you can either find blanks, or a complacent locksmith. Securemme doesn't have the network that Cisa or Mottura have to check how realiable every lcoksmith carrying their product is, when it comes to key duplication. They make decent, cheap euro profile cylinders without sorrow...or glory. They are what they are.
