Schlage NDE

This area is for discussing the installation and troubleshooting of access control, prox reader, strikes, or electronic prox fob and keypad locks. No bypass or Advanced techniques please.

It has to do with power consumption. WiFi would kill batteries in no time. Bluetooth is low power and the batteries will last a year or so. So you have to install a gateway that communicates via Bluetooth.

Ah, makes sense. I guess it's a trade off to stick to the cylindrical form factor? Wonder if they haven't played around with something like Kaba's Powerlever to utilize the lever rotation to power an internal battery? Questions I should have thought to ask. Boo.

Nice article. I generally order all cylindrical prep doors with 161DT prep instead of 161 because I almost always use a cylindrical lever prep. It saves drilling the holes on a 161 prep, so popping a NDE on is a walk in the park.
