Getting to know modern auto keys.

Postby temPtat44 » 2 Feb 2017 16:12

Hi guys,
I did locksmithing back in the sixties and seventies. I am now 76 yrs. young and need to supplement my income. I have some equipment left, i.e 2 Ilco 017's, a tubular key cutter and a Belsaw cutter/code cutter.
I need to learn more about the modern auto locks. Don't plan on setting up a van but I need to know something about these new lock systems so I can talk intelligently to my customers.
Sure could use some suggestions as where to start.
Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Here is an article you might find interesting: http://www.locksmithledger.com/article/12225502/auto-remote-programming-guide Another one is here http://www.locksmithledger.com/article/12191361/new-products-from-keyline-usa And another one is here http://www.locksmithledger.com/article/12025807/cloners. These are on the Locksmith Ledger website, you can register there for free and read the articles. These articles touch on modern automotive keys and related issues.

Are you anywhere near Lexington KY? Lockmasters is in a town near Lexington and they have training courses on auto locksmithing, for example http://www.lsieducation.com/courses/pureauto_highintro.html. Never been to them, but I have only heard good things about them.
