Peterson manufacturing defects...and their response

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Thanks for doing the write up and review AngryHatter. Let us know if anything breaks. Do your picks still have etched letters and numbers near where the pick shaft meets the handle?

Thanks

Yes, they have stamped letters at the junction of the handle and the shaft of the pick.
They also have plastic sleeves that mostly cover the stamps.

These pictures were posted to reddit's lockpicking subreddit by /u/Nemo_Griff. Not long after, a new user with the handle /u/Petersonmfg appeared in the thread to try and explain the situation. Many of these comments are little more than "Problem has been fixed". Others repeat that there is a "50% warranty", meaning that you mail the broken picks back to Peterson, and they give you a 50% discount on the replacement.

I think this thread could use more visibility, and I know a lot of us hang out both on reddit and here.

I had the same issue. I purchased a Peterson set a month ago and while polishing them I broke a few. I sent them an email with pics explaining what I was doing and how I broke them.
This was at the end of my email conversation with Peterson
