Hi, I have a door lock which seems to be unconventional (at least, I think so). Here are some photos: http://imgur.com/QcvQor5http://imgur.com/idbGZgzADMIN EDIT: to insert a pic the address has to be direct path to the photo, not just to the imgur album folder: https://i.imgur.com/QcvQor5.jpg -Squelchtone I would like to know if this lock is considered to be a standard deadbolt. If not, what kind of lock is it? I am asking because I would like to instal a smart lock (August Smart Lock preferably) but I am not sure about my door hardware's compatibility. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks standard to me, it's a lock that accepts an euro profile cylinder. You also have a thumb turn on the inside, quite common here in Italy. Good luck with your project PS: it's not a deadbolt.

Thanks for your responses.
Are there any smart locks that would work on this?
Just for future reference, what is this type of lock called? Euro Profile Cylinder? I apologize but I am very much a novice when it comes to locks.
Please note that I don't have a handle from the outside. In order to open from outside, I have to use a key to turn and push in.
Thank you again!

Yes, that is a euro-profile cylinder.
If you tell us where you are located (at least the country), it will help us to give solutions that are more available in your area.
As for the SmartKey, there are a number of us who would not want one on our own homes.

My recommendation, instead of using the e-lock, just leave the key in the outside of your lock, or under the mat--likely that will provide the same level of security

Do you have to pull up on the handle to lock it with the thumb turn?

As the other guys have said, its a euro profile thumbturn pin tumbler. once the door is closed, you lift the door handle to throw the locking bolts/hooks from the door, to the door frame. Then turn the thumbturn from the inside, or use the key from the outside to lock the handle.

I just saw that it says "ISEO" and "Made in Italy" on it! Excuse my ignorance but is this considered a "Mortise Lock"? I'm asking because August had announced that they will release a Mortise kit, although they haven't yet. Would a Mortise Kit fix this problem? jimu57 wrote:o pull up on the handle to lock it with the thumb turn?
No, I don't. I can just turn the thumb turn to lock it without touching the handle. GWiens2001 wrote:If you tell us where you are located (at least the country), it will help us to give solutions that are more available in your area. Gordon
I am located in Canada.

How about a pic of the front of the door.

I will do that next time I'm on the construction site. However I can describe it very simply: there is a key slot.. no handle and nothing else. I can only open with the key
