yesyesyes, Lockcon has dates !!
Planning-wise we’re rather early this year. With some luck, this could enable our international guests to make use of some discounted airfare.
The event will take place this year on 20 - 22 October in the southern part of the Netherlands (Actually, on the 19th, drinkies will commence)
On 20 and 21 a late breakfast and dinner buffet will be available. The 22nd will sport a late breakfast buffet. These meals are all included in your ticket.
Depending on arrival time on the 19th, you can opt for a dinner buffet (needs to be ordered in advance, will cost 15 euro) Also on the 22nd, you can opt to have dinner before leaving (also needs to be ordered in advance) Do not plan your departure early!
Last-years’ location is no longer a hotel, so we had to scout for a new venue to host our conference. To keep the price as low as possible, we decided to go for a building that is (a bit) older than average.
We went for the 13th century castle (not a typo) “Kasteel de Berckt in Baarlo”
— I’ll pause a few seconds for you to google pictures —
If you fly in through Schiphol, take the direct train to Venlo (about 24 euro). In Venlo, you could take a bus, or take a (25 euro) cab to the venue.
Prices & room-choises will be comparable with last years’ event. Registration website will be up shortly. You NEED to register in order to get access to the venue. NO exceptions.
Now go mark your calendars.

I mean 13th century castle means dungeons, right? And like secret passages, hidden doors and stuff. Makes sense, no? It's not like this Disney World or something .... this is like A real-deal 13th century castle, which was definitely no put together as a fun palace .... That AND LockCon has meant the bounces of joy in this here swivel chair naturally multiple as we get closer. Oh, boy, oh boy. I'm NOT missed a moment of this gig. Soooo stoked. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

You know it's a bad day when you wake up and find any email saying your flights has been cancelled. Never mind, I bought two more.

LockCon was super cool, as usual! I met many old friends and made new ones. I successfully made a key for the abus lock at the impressioning championship in 19' and 20'', opened just 5 locks out of 9 in less than 5 minutes at the picking championship, and opened none of the 3 safe locks in less than 2 minutes at the lever lock championship. I attended many interesting presentations in a beautiful castle full of great people. I also got some presents from some of my friends I've got back to work and I already look forward to the next meeting... Cheers

Sounds like a great time, nicely done Femurat. Out of curiosity, what locks were used for the picking and lever lock championships?
