LVS - Locksmith Video School

Not sure if anyone here took the video course from LVS. The guy that had it and was an active locksmith passed away this past September. I just talked with his wife. I hadn’t called him in a while. I expressed condolences from the lock community.

Took it a couple of years ago, wrote about it here:

Did not know that the instructor had died--apparently he had a heart attack before he decided to make the videos. Anyway, I got the impression that he had big plans then sort of scaled things back with the training. If you can get a good deal on it, then it might be worth it. And it does check off one of the boxes for being licensed in some places (in TN at least). The focus was mainly on being a mobile smith doing residential/property management, and light commercial.

In general, if you were to buy a box of used cylinders, door knobs, mortise locks, etc., from a flea market and work on them, and watch some good youtube videos (Kokomo Locksmith, for example: https://youtu.be/mBcLtDHFfO4) you might learn about as much.

Very true. I picked up the course when he had a special. I learned most things in my own the past 2 years but did pick up some some things from the vids.
