Anyway, I got the impression that he had big plans then sort of scaled things back with the training. If you can get a good deal on it, then it might be worth it. And it does check off one of the boxes for being licensed in some places (in TN at least). The focus was mainly on being a mobile smith doing residential/property management, and light commercial.
In general, if you were to buy a box of used cylinders, door knobs, mortise locks, etc., from a flea market and work on them, and watch some good youtube videos (Kokomo Locksmith, for example:
