how to spin dial

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

how to spin dial

I have an old Herring Hall Marvin small safe. I have the 4 number combo but I do not know how to spin the dial, left, right, how many turns etc. What is the correct number of right &/or left turns to get this open?

It depends on if the last number of your combination is just the "stop' number that some people add, or part of the combination.

Try 4 turns left to first number, 3 turns right to second number, 2 turns left to next number, then right to stop.

If that doesnt work reverse the turns to r,l,r, left to stop.

If its a true four wheel lock then you need to add one turn 5,4,3 and repeat the above til open.

You already posted this question 3 days ago here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=65768&p=489128#p489128

Please help us keep the forum duplicate free and take a look at your other post so you can see folks replies and not miss a solution to your question. We are still hoping to see a photo of your safe and safe dial, and I would like to see the paper the combination is written on. Lots of folks write things in their own special short hand and sometimes the combination is really 3 numbers, but they put a 4th number that you have to turn to in order to retract the lock, but that doesn't always make it a 4 number combination.

Locking this post, please reply to your original one.

Thank you
