Combination lock modification

Does anyone have any ideas of how to modify a mechanical combination lock such as this one



Perhaps by adding a cog actuator to the bottom tailpiece and removing the spring by the knob, so that it would work in conjunction with this mechanism? What else would need to be done? Would this work? Are there other mechanical combination locks which may work with this?

The Simplex 7000 in your top pic is designed to work with just one tubular deadbolt versus the mult lock case you have in the bottom pic.

Anything can be modified but its going to be a trial and error on the work bench to see what works.
