I've been working with these 5-button locks for a long time. I recently have had trouble with the locks that open exit bars like the Von Duprin 22. The problem is that the lever will not turn the exit bar cam far enough to pull the bolt in far enough to clear the strike. With the lock off the door, the lever turns the tailpiece nearly 90 degrees. A Phillips screw driver in the cam, pulls the exit bar bolt all the way in. I have adjusted the hub in the Simplex, the one with three set screws, as far as it will go. I have pre-twisted the tailpiece to make it pull farther. That worked for a while. And I am still having problems with call backs. Does anyone know what to do next?
I am making a new tailpiece that is wider and a little thicker in case the exit bar cam slot is too loose and the tailpiece has too much play.
Also, I have discussed the problem with tech support but was told simply to replace the lock. The lock appears to work properly.
I have also been told to replace the clutch. Does anyone know just what is happening with a worn clutch? I cannot see what is wrong.
Anyway I'm asking for experienced advice. Thanks
