Tubular pick does not open the safe anymore

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Tubular pick does not open the safe anymore

Postby debbi123 » 5 Sep 2021 18:03

Hi,
I have a small Yale value safe, to which i have forgot the combination and lost the keys.
I have bought a tubular pick tool to open the safe. It worked well a few times, but not anymore.
The lock has no guide pin, nor the tubular.
I have noticed that now there is a pin inside the top hole and the lock does not seem to be aligned correctly.
You can see this by the 2 attached photos. One is the original lock state and one its state as of now, after using the tubular a few times.

Any advise will be highly appreciated.

First time poster asking to get into a safe? hmmmm... We usually treat posts like this with a healthy dose of suspicion and we are usually very reluctant to provide how to advice since we do not know you at all or if it is your safe or what the whole story is.

If the tubular pick worked a couple times, why didn't you replace the batteries inside the safe and set a new digital combination? It sounds silly that you've opened and closed it and still need to use the pick to get into it, that's honestly not a good long term game plan.

Best bet is to search for some youtube videos that talk about tubular picking and the things that can go wrong when a pick is removed in the wrong position. Step 2 would be to call a locksmith shop in your area or bring the safe to a locksmith shop where someone can use their experience and knowledge to over come the current state that lock is in.

Sorry we can't be more helpful, but thank you for understanding where we are coming from, don't want to accidentally teach someone how to get into a safe just in case it is not theirs, etc, etc.
