Abus 83 series cylinder backwards in keyway

So before I could even get started, the first thing I did was slide my Abus 83 series cylinder into the keyway backwards and now it's stuck. There was a little "button" that had to be depressed in order to let the cylinder fully slide in, and now I see no way to get to that button to depress it which would allow the cylinder to slide back out. Is there any way to get it out, or is this now metal for recycling? How's that for a newbie screwup?

Did the retainer pin pop into one of the key pin channels?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but based on my reading of the rules of this forum, it seems I can't just upload a photo from my computer, but I need to first upload them to Imgur.com. I just tried to register there, but they need to send a verification by text message to a phone and I don't have a cell phone, so....
Regarding retainer pin, I'm not sure what that is, so I Googled it, and based on the images I see of an Abus 83 cylinder, the only likely pin I see makes it the pin sticking out perpendicular from the rounded body of the cylinder at the end of the cylinder, away from where the key is inserted. In truth, I can't recall if that little button/pin was like in the picture I referenced, that is, on the cylinder sticking out and which I depressed so the cylinder could slide into the keyway housing or if it was on the inside of the keyway housing. It's funny how memory sometimes works (or doesn't), especially when you don't know what you're doing.
That pin definitely seems to have popped into something, because if it had just remained depressed, I think the cylinder would still be able to slide back out.
One more thing I can add is that if you look at the cylinder and keyway housing head on rather than from a side view, it looks like the numeral 8, kind of two circles one on top of the other with the smaller top circle not complete because some of its circumferance at the bottom section seems to be hidden in the larger bottom circle of the cylinder where the key fits in. At this point, the key entry is now stuck in a position turned 90 degrees counterclockwise from the position it would be in if everything were proper and the keyway were awaiting a key to be inserted.

Okay; so I looked at Lockpickinglawyer's video # 246. At time stamp 2:54 where he says "press this little detent here"
I think that's what I must have pushed in to get the cylinder to slide in the wrong way, so it's now backwards in the housing.

And here's an excerpt from the comments from that video. One viewer wrote:
"Good thing to note, be EXTREMELY careful when removing the core (and reinserting). If you rotate the cylinder accidentally you will end up with that detent up in the bible and it's nearly impossible to get it out." to which the reply was:
"Good point. That's a big design flaw IMO. There is nothing that stops Abus from making the detent larger than the driver holes, but they chose to use the little one that can easily lock the core up."
so maybe I not only inserted the cylinder in backwards but also got that detent into a driver hole in the process?

That is what is sounds like to me.

Yes, I was referring to that pin you push in to turn the plug to the pinning window or to pull out the plug from the core. And I was suspecting that it had popped into the pin channels in the bible.

In which case, you need to buy another core. Don’t feel too bad. We all have had our locks that have gained us knowledge and the wisdom to “not do that again”.

No need to buy a new core. Guesstimate where the pin is or which spring chamber it snapped into and simply drill a 1/16" hole through the top of the spring chamber. You can then rotate the pin to one side and remove it. As long as the hole drilled is much smaller than the spring diameter you won't even have to worry about filling the hole. This is actually a common problem and fix. Good luck.
