i know of a way to get lockpicks without hassle, you can file them out of windshield wiper spines, or buy them at http://www.lockpickshop.com/ (sponser of this site, get a 10% discount by typing coupon code "lp101" in the coupon box, minus the quotes)

For nice rivets, you can use 1" (2cm) brass nails with some brass washers. Trim off the excess and use the peen on a ballpeen hammer to mushroom it down.

Most hardware or home improvement stores have the two-part expoxy putty that works well and holds up nice.

I've made some really good shapeable "plastic" out of milk and vinegar, it doesn't stink at all, but man that stuff is easy to work with. PM me if you want the recipe. Good stuff, but easy to make.

Here are a couple pictures of a jackknife set I made a while back to show you the brass nails.

This one shows the tension wrench being stored.

Good luck and post pix when you are done.

I haven't posted anything in a while, I'm out of practice. Let me try the images again.

Nice shot of the rivets made out of brass nails. I used brass washers also.

Tension wrench in storage. I made it from some African exotic wood but right now I forget the name.
