Safe for apartment...

I've been searching an idea to protect some important documents that I've amassed over the years(car title, birth certificate, tax docs, work docs, other valuables). Was thinking about smaller safe but can't secure/bolt down since living in apartment with wood floors. Was thinking maybe safety deposit box but know they are slowly being phased out and are subject to issues of their own. Does anyone have any ideas I could use to secure a safe somehow in the apartment? Maybe onto a dresser or something? Thx

Sounds like you'll be wanting at least a fireproof safe, to keep your documents safe from a fire. If you also want to keep those documents safe from a criminal you should step your search for a safe up to a Burglary/Fire safe. The burglary fire safes I have seen are all just under a UL TL-15 listing & they are much heavier than a standard type safe.

For example, I have two of Amsec's BF Series gun safes, the smaller one weights 885 pounds & the bigger one weighs 1850. With that kind of weight, I don't bother fastening them to anything-- I'm pretty sure they won't be going anywhere

When living in an apartment, I bolted a safe to the wall instead of to the floor. When moving out of the apartment, unbolted the safe, then filled the holes and painted to match the walls. Just be sure you are bolting it into a stud, not just the dryuwall.

I installed one many years ago but I honestly feel it would be very hard to kick my door in.. Especially not without a lot of noise!!!
Compare THIS door plate to what most every door has! Scary that I even trusted the existing set up for so many years! LOL
