The ring had to be compressed on all sides to get it to go in where it snapped back out into a grove in the body. It was not designed to come out. I had to drill away the key way to get it out to make a key, then had to machine a replacement. I wonder if this might be the same?
So, if I understood this right, the "disc" around the keyway with the "ABLOY" markings is actually a separate part that can come out the front of the lock? I need to check the lock more carefully but that would make sense. If that's the case though I think I can forget about opening it though. The whole front part of the lock seems to be hardened steel.
Also, I know for a fact the rounded part on the outside of the logo is a separate piece they put on to prevent people from hitting the cylinder from the side; now I wonder if there's something under it...
