Can you name this lock?

Postby Sctr22 » 21 Jan 2023 14:22

Hey guys, rookie here and apparently my googlefu isn't worth much.

Was given an old Hon filing cabinet, but no keys to the lock. I was going to replace the lock but I can't seem to find something to match. Looked at page after page of cam locks but none seem to have the shaft on the end of the lock, so is there another name for this type? Thanks for your help.

Wouldn't you rather pay less and just get a key for that lock?
You can get one on eBay for$6.99, just enter the code on your lock, 151E key, on eBay

Haha yea that would be the smarter more economical option and I'll probably just end up doing that.

Guess I just wanted to see if there were any other options out there.

Let's be honest, I fell into a rabbit hole trying to figure out what it is and now I'm invested in it...it haunts me haha!

I added a link to a replacement but it's still cheaper to buy a key by code

This type of lock is called a wafer lock.

So if I were searching for it I would search for: Hon wafer file cabiner lock cylinder.

Looks like a lateral file lock but as others have said, its much easier to just get a key.
