Need help with a tubular lock

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Need help with a tubular lock

Postby N6XB » 4 Mar 2025 17:13

I have a safe that was made in China that has a tubular lock for entry. I lost the key! Big surprise... I have purchased two different lock picks as can be seen in this link: https://ibb.co/v4QDTQZS

I have worked for hours trying to pick this 7 pin lock with NO luck. Very frustrating! Can anyone provide some advice on what to do next? Please don't say drill the lock! :P

I even have the lock key code, but can't find anyone who can cut a new key for me.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Couple Options, Someone Here May Make A Key Or Tell Where You Can Get Key Cut By Code, The Picks You Showed Suck, Some Won't Work Without Modifying, I Have That And Others.
HPC Makes A Nice One That Works, As Does South Ord, They Work Well.
Option 3, Get A Tubular Key Cutter And Make One.
Kilometers Makes A Cheap One, Since May Be Used Once, That May Work, Some Just Came Out With A Compact Quality One, Forget If HPC.
Good Luck

I would start by working the fingers on your pick in & out and make sure they all move smoothly,
have you shot some lube into the lock? Some picks have a tension adjustment, you may need to make it quite tight in order to work. If all the fingers are sliding all the way out repeatedly, you need more tension. This could be as simple as adding a rubber band around the fingers

I have both the KLOM and the HPC. The KLOM works better for me. But you need to adjust it for the lock.
