LOCK PICK TEMPLATES

It took me ages to find a scale of lock picks so this is really for all the newbies starting out who wona make there own picks. this was given to me by the great master of pick making Pick_maker and i just added in the upper scale and moved things abit closer.

Hope this is usefull considering i have taken so much form these forums and given back so little but as i progress i will be sure to help others.

yeah they are southord picks, never seen them next to a ruler..not bad

probaly a simple hook and rake along with tention wrench,
you see the first double sided one in the pic that would be a good start

Heey,
thanks for the compliments Airstotle. I think I must've forwarded you some of other people's stuff (OPS). But anyway, it is always refreshing to see someone making available images more handy to use and I have added this template to my burgeoning file, now at 223megs of lockpicking related material, videos, audio bla bla, with no duplicates.

I'm sitting next to this scanner at my Univeristy, I have my comp-gen picks in my pocket, would putting them up violate any copyrights? I'm scared of those burly majestic lawyers.

What Majestic lawyers?

I still haven't even found a patent on the Comp-u-picks, let alone Majestic's high tech set.

Take a good, long hard look at all the lock picks you have, and all the pictures you can find. You will come to a startling conclusion. Most of them are pretty much the same things.

The majority of lock picking impliments have no patent protection, nor do they have any copyright protection. It's like trying to copyright a screwdriver.

Technically they have copyright protection simply because they were produced. Any object has rudimentry copyright that remains with the original artist, designer or whatever or the group or company that asked for them to be made. The problem is trying to enforce it.

You can scare some people, but the fact remains that almost all these things are duplicates of previous works.

I live in Canada. I have always wanted to learn how to pick locks and make my own picks. A big problem that has arisen in my house lately, is my kitten keeps ketting locked upstairs in my parents room! They have the who attic to themselves and I guess he likes to sleep up there a lot lately. They both work late and long and they don't see him up there most of the time. My brother and I have and succesfully popped the deadbolt on it, but only one time each. It has a large gap between the door and the frame, because it is a old house. Every door is WOOD! We would just put something to block the pin and then use a knife to grab the dead bolt back and open the door. But it is getting to hard to do! My mom is going to get me a key for that door soon though in case this happens again. This got me to thinking, what does it take to open a dead bolt with a pick? If you can't get to the sides? What are the best and easiest picks to make out of all of the above in that Great Pic! ? ! I have all sorts of tools to make them as well. I have made a pick from a Key Ring. I Straightened it out about half way and left one loop. I hammered and sanded it until it was flat and smooth. At the end I made a 45-60 degree bend and sanded it down. It is probaly about 2-3 mm thick. I don't have a ruler handy. I placed it against a match stick and from bottom to the top of the bend it just covers it.
Is this sufficient enough for a starter pick, I am going to make others if I can soon. I have a pad lock to practice on also. It is a Brass Cased Testa pad lock with small keys, probaly 2 inches in total length.
