CANT SEEM TO GET THIS LOCK

Postby ANDYMAN » 24 Jan 2005 16:17

HAVE A PIECE OF SH*T LOCK FROM WALGREENS JUST TO PRACTICE ON. ITS A HOMECENTER LOCK. EVERY TIME I TRY TO GET ANY OF THE PINS DOWN THEY SET IN THE INCORRECT PLACE. I THINK THEY MAY BE MUSHROOMED OR SERRATED. EVEN WITH THE SLIGHTEST TENSION I CANT GET THEM TO SET RIGHT. I AM KINDA NEW AT THIS, ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS???

Gee Whitehat... I stuffed cotton in my eyes and was able to make it out. You are correct... ...there is a good question in there.

ANDYMAN,

Ah... on the brink of learning new technique... what adventure!!!! You are going to feel good once you conquer this one!!

What makes you think they set in the incorrect place? Does one pin seem to have multiple set positions? Or are your fighting spring tension and not really sure if the pin is set at all? Perhaps the plug 'gives' a bit and the pin dangles loosely?!?

Tell us what you are feeling. (I sound like a shrink :) )

There are some previous threads about spools, mushroom and serrated pins. Since you've used these terms, I presume you know the difference and the plug 'feel' associated with each. If not... research those threads.

While I can't imagine an inexpensive lock with these special pins... I am not familar with the lock you have and therefore won't discount the possibility.

yeah - sorry - I meant that I didn't actually read the post because the first sentance wasn't complete, had swearing in it and was in all caps.....

now that I've gone back and read it it's actually fairly well phrased with the unfortunate exception of the caps... :) perhaps I need to improve my signal:noise ratio..
