why don't you want to hit a sage bush with the rifle? i'm not familiar with the properties of the all mighty sage bush, but is it highly flammable? And what kind of rounds start fires? Do the rounds explode? I take it then that the rounds are not your typical lead round?

I do not have a digital camera. I spent it all on the rifle  But I can find the one I have on other sites. Which I can direct you to or you can wait for me to get permission to post the pictures here. And I do study Aikido, the gun is mearly for fun and sport. I don't kill anything with it. Infact I had to put one of my friends off limit for my gun cause he was goin for rabbits (which is legal) I just don't believe you should shoot anyone or anything unless in self defense or if you are a hunter with all the legal things you need. Anyway, it's not hitting the sage brush it's hitting something next to it. The Raufoss Multi-Purpose round is why you don't want to hit anything near sage brush. The Raufoss round is an armour piercing, explosive, incendiary round. So basically it is built to go through armor and then the round will explode sending shrapnel into your body and then will ignite anything it can. If this round hits a tree it will start it on fire, if it hits a rock and there is, say, sage brush close by it will start it on fire then where are you at? It is designed to bring down multimillion dollar aircraft and so on and such if you want to know more things it was made to break read earlier posts. Thank you.

Could i use a Raufoss Multi-Purpose round in oh, say, a Mark XIX Desert Eagle? Or do you know if they make a Desert Eagle compatible round? Because shooting an armour piercing, explosive, incendiary round sounds like it would definitely be a different experience.

Misfit misfit misfit misfit......

Jeez.... wow

Let's discuss muzzle velocity, the overall size of the round, arming distance (if applicable)

To reply to your query, no. You need the particular weapons system it was designed for. Special purpose munitions are very different animals than what you'd get from say, Hornady. Now, a few questions of my own for the Aikidoguy.

1. You were in the Ordinance Corps? Any EOD?

2. Why do you have an M82? Do you have neighbors who are launching Scuds? :D Have you tried getting you hands on any precision machined steel rounds? What sort of glass do you have on it?

3. These other rounds, they have C-B and some Willy Pete in them, do they not? How is it that you posses them?

Looks like I'm no longer the only guy on the site with these sorts of skills. I'm going to have to check my facts before I post anything from now on....

You never were the only guy, I just try not to get too indepth into that stuff. We're lock pickers, not EOD, JTF or anything else. Even if making things go "BOOM" is loads of fun.

Anyway, I don't know if there is a real classification for people like me. My service number is different from anything else, my division was never under the direct command of any specific branch and the stuff they taught us just went everywhere.

Why am I not surprised? So many of the outstanding people I meet turn out to be veterans. Romstar could be handsomely compensated to provide his level of technical expertise about locksmithing, instead it's something he does free of charge on this website. Once again, I am humbled.

Unfortunately I cannot say that was employed by the military, but I did spend the better half of my youth messing with things I probably shouldn't have been. (and no longer do, btw) so here's a little reminder to everyone that it's ALWAYS a good idea to check your facts before posting. ;)

thanks for raining on my one man army parade Tastyfish. Fricken weapons system compatibility....next you'll say my idea for an automatic belt-fed street sweeper is ridiculous! You see if you replace the rotating magazine, with a drum magazine, and use it to house the belt...and the flame thrower goes on the side...::points to his blueprint:: and thats where the chainsaw swings out...

I was about to go into the army. So no I do not have any official military training. Most of my friends however are marines or soldiers. I was going to go ordinance though and did alot of stuff with those guys. Basically just goin out with em and seein what they do. Stuff the army does to convince someone to join. Anywho, I mearly bought the .50 Cal for the heck of it. Like I've said before, for FUN! It had been alot of fun too. And I am sorry but I got no clue about this glass thing you are talkin about. I am not at all shamed to admit I really got no clue. Please clarify what you mean by these other rounds. I was only aware of disscusing one type of round so far. I first saw a .50 Cal gun shot by a group of police officers. They put a 3 gallon propane tank about 300 yards away and shot it. Let me tell you, that was freakin awesome! The explosion, wow! The only reason I have ever gotten a RMP round is to do this again. :) Since then I just get the ball rounds. Just the normal, like anyother gun round. But really really BIG. I do agree with tastyfish though, this is a lockpicking site. Not a huge freakin gun blog. So please once the question posted by SFGOON is clear I will stop posting in this particular thread.

been thinking about this thread and others similar to it that pop up from time to time and I noticed a trend. anyway - just browsing the net I came across Godwin's law and decided that changed around a little bit it was applicable to Lockpicking101.

WhiteHat's Restatement of Godwin's Law of Nazi analogies:
As a lp101 discussion thread on a hypothetical situation grows longer, the probability of degeneration into a discussion about guns, knives or Mazola approaches one.

there - I've said it - now the world makes a little bit more sense.

more information on Godwin's law can be found in this wired.com archive

hmmm, just read this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=6360

need to make a change methinks:

WhiteHat's Revamped Restatement of Godwin's Law of Nazi analogies:
(aka WH's theory of thread degeneration)
As a lp101 discussion thread on any topic grows longer, the probability of degeneration into a discussion about guns, knives, Mazola or Women approaches one.

And an added Corollary:
The time between the initial post and the subsequent degeneration is inversely proportional to the simplicity of the answer required by the question/comment in the initial post.
Oh look! it's 2016!

He he. I wondered when someone would mention Godwin's Law.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work in reverse. You can't kill a thread by mentioning Mazola, much as I'd like to sometimes. (Kill a thread that's gone off the rails that is, not mention Mazola).

This may sound ignorant, but what is Godwin's law? without Whitehat's editing to it.
