any tricks for picking a short pin behind a long pin?

ok so i got real good at picking my kwikset and cant find a cheap schlage, so i put in the hardest pin configuration i could think of.

I have the shortest pin in the back followed by the longest pin... each time i try to pick it i always overset the long pin along with maybe another long one. What method and pick works best for this?

The half diamond doesnt work at all and the rake(short curved) pick also doesnt work(atleast for me). I think that real long curved one would work if it actually fit in the lock. I would also like to know if anyone even uses the long hook pick since i cant even get mine in comfortably.

also to prevent multiple posts i always have the tension rest at the bottem, i should probably practice at the top but i can never get it to stay, should i learn how to use it in different areas even if i'm only doing this for a hobby?

Thanks, i'm mostly concerned with not being able to pick a short high pin config, i think i might just take them all out except for the back 2 and practice.

Just use the short hook. Work at finding the binding pin, and then setting that rather than worrying about an order, and practice makes perfect.

If the low pin binds before the high one then you will have more room to get at the high pin. If the high pin binds before the low one, the low one might get pushed up with it but it should fall back down as long as you don't have too much tension.

Where you put the tension wrench shouldn't really matter, as long as it's not in the way of your picking and you can put tension on it.
You'll probably have best luck using a hook pick. This may be the same thing you're already using ("rake" pick). It'll allow you to reach past the pins to the back-most pin.

Over-tension when trying to get a pick past a pin you don't want to disturb then go back to normal tension once it's past.
