just a new thought... Dudley has combination locks out with pictures on the dial... would these have new sticking points or have different disks like the black and blue ones?

Ah, I mentioned those in a previous reply here, I think they're called the Collection series. As far as I know, they all have black dials, so they should be identical (except for the picture/cartoon) to the regular black-dialed locks on the inside.
On another note, the janitorial staff at my school left early (other than a few lower-rung ones, but they were no help), so I couldn't get a cut or broken lock to open up. I'll check again as soon as I can, though.

Here are the sticking points for my first lock:
0.5-3.5
6.5-9.5
12.5-15.5
18.5-21.5
24-28
30-34
36.5-39.5
42.5-45.5
48-51.5
54.5-57.5
And my second lock:
3.5-7
9.5-13
15.5-19
21-25
27-31.5
33-37.5
39.5-43
45.5-49
51.5-55
57.5-1.5
Both of the dials are blue and the combination to the second one is 13-59-35. See if you can figure out the combination to my first lock, trimble. Could you also explain your methods and any ideas you have for cracking these. Good luck!

hey guys, i found this site, and i don't know if there is a difference in the locks we are talking about, but he says that there are 3 general sticking zones on a dudley lock.
http://www.freewebs.com/lockpicker/dudleylocks.htm
check it out, let me know what you think of his way to crack a dudley.

i dont really get what that person is trying to say on that site, but the more i think abo0ut it i know a few people whose middle number is not the smallest in the sequence, such as 52, 42,07, ans 7, 57, 27... <--- teo of my friends at school, i will find oput sticky points for the 52,4,07 one, and it is brand new

so basically, even if there are 10 stick points, how to we know which 3 to choose to find the combination number from?
and yes zodiac, that was the one thing wrong on his site, my combination's smallest number is last in the 3.
P.S. does the colour of the turning dial make a difference on how to crack them? also, has dudley been working to fix these holes since people have come so close to cracking their locks?

That's the same thing I don't understand. It says that the dial stops on three general zones, but out of my ten I can't discern which ones contain the combination. All the sticking points feel the same and I tried changing the amount of force I'm using to pull on the shackle but I haven't had any success. All Dudley locks have ten sticking points, right?

I have only been following this thread half-heartedly at best, but has nobody put thier lock to a dremel and found out what is going on inside? I would think this would be oh-so-clear upon inspection of the internal workings. I have gutted a Master and found that the sticking points have no relationship at all with the combo. I don't have a dudley, and therefor I cannot do the same, but surely to god somebody out there has a dremel and can cut one of those suckers open and figure this out. No graph paper required.

would a stethoscope (thing a doctor uses to check heartbeat) work with a dudley?

Sadly, no. Simply put, it's because there's no pressure being put on the disks when they're spinning, only when you pull down on the shackle (which, also, resets the combo unless it's on the last number), so there's no "click" to be heard from the lock. I'll be happy to dremel one of these apart (I have both a dremel and a 9600dpi scanner, so all I need is a lock and some time) for this ongoing project.
We really need one of these opened up...
That would be a weird clue: every number in the combo (or a useable number, due to the tolerance of the notches) being a multiple of 3. Maybe it's the same as the differences we've seen. There could be setups with the numbers being multiples of 3, 4, or 5, like the differences (3,3,3 4,4,4 5,5,5, 3,5,3, etc). I don't know it if it depends on the dial colour, but I think so. There seem to be differences in the locks (sticking points, spacing, etc.) between the dial colours, then more differences, but between certain parameters between each lock in the dial colour segment (I hope that made sense). I'll see if my school is open (they might be, on Friday or on Sunday for cleaning and prep.) and if I can get an old or cut lock. Until then, I'm more or less stuck, except for theory and more ideas.

The Dudley locks are probably similar to Master locks.
My Master lock has a dial reading from 0 to 39, but it only has twelve possible gate positions. On any given wheel in the lock there are 11 false gates and one true gate. If you divide 12 into 40, you are going to have an average of 3 to 4 graduations between gate positions.
