Greetings, I have a little bit of experience in lock picking and joined the group to perhaps learn new techniques, exchange information and just enjoy general discussion on the topic. I look forward to further discourse.

That in immensity
There is one lonelier than you.

Hello you all!
I've read your site only for a day or a two and I just had to register because the site looks very promising and I thought that I could get more use out of it when registered
I've read the MIT guide for a half a year or a year ago but I haven't had time to practise much because of studies and other bad excuses () But I hope I get the picking going now that I've registered....

Hiya! I have been "interested" in picking locks for six or seven years now (okay more like involved in) and I am pretty decent at picking average locks, and I was hoping to learn a little about combination locks, since I always have trouble with those. Site looked nice, so I decided to join. Hoping to learn a little from this forum.

Greetings all
I noticed this site a while ago but only just registered tonight. This is sort of a test post just to see if I can get through. I've been interested in locks since the mid 1980's while a student and now know a fair bit about them.
I'm actually in the process of writing a book on high security locks, which is an extension of an earlier document I wrote called the "catalogue of high security locks" (May 1994), now referenced in the alt.locksmithing FAQ. The draft book has pictures and a lot more locks than the earlier document. The trouble is finding time to work on it since it's not my real day job (I'm an engineer by trade). I have a few questions.... like how do you get access to the high security locks part of this newsgroup? Other questions later once I see if this works.
To the moderators: nice web site. I like the smiley collection!

Greetings. I've been interested in lockpicking for years but besides the 'eddie the wire book' that a friend acquired about 10 years ago and the MIT guide, I hadn't been able to find much good information. Since I've been lurking this site, I have found a huge wealth of information.
I'm not particularly great at it, but Ive studied locks for years(mostly high security) and can open most non high-security locks with a little time. I'd like to be able to hone my skills here. I have a number of homemade picks and tension wrenches along with 3 sourthord picks and tension wrench.
Nifty site, and I'm glad for the constant ethics lessons to the less well intentioned readers. I hope it does well.

hiya!
im new to the site and to the trade. i wanted a new challenging hobby and was always interested in lockpicking. ive read the mit guide and am looking for more advice and practice. i crafted my own picks out of dollar store steak knives. i have a half diamond, a small hook, a w-shapped rake/snake, a full diamond, and a few tension wrenches made from allen wrenches. is there any thing else i would need? are there ways, other than picking the same locks, to practice? i will pour over the forums in search for now!

Im new, been lurking for about a week. Plan on ordering a simple set of picks from lockpickshop since I haven't heard anything bad on the forums, and prices arn't too bad. I want to get into lockpicking as a hobby, seems like something thats challenging and rewarding. Anyhoo thanks for having a good place to come to, to discuss such things .

I've been lurking for a while, and now that I have a feel for the forum I figured I'd start contributing. I've been picking for a few years now and am decent at it, but a Medeco puts my back in my place. Anyway, I'm looking forward to being a more active part of the community.
