I have heard (in my limited reading) that you need a licence to carry the picks, and I would like to stay on the right side of the law, so does anyone know how I would go about obtaining said licence in my state? Hi all, I've always been interested in lockpicking, and finally mustered up the brass bolts (no pun intended) and the cash, more importantly, to start out. A few questions to start out, Private message me if you want. Ok, here goes.

Are there any laws that I need be concerned of in the States of Minnesota and Georgia? For instance, can I carry picks there? Sounds sketchy, I know, but I live in GA, and go to school in MN, so I want to know anything important.

Second, is it a craft, or an art, or both? More specifically, can I learn to pick any lock if I work and train hard enough? thanks a bunch for your time, and this is a great site you have.

The sport and hobby of lockpicking in its essence requires patience and lots of practice. As we do like to say around here any lock is subject to picking and nothing is impossible.

Hello, Joined today and like what I see. I have been a hobby picker for a few years ( mainly cylinders, waffers and a few disc combination locks ) I have a southord MPSX-20 as my main tools. I'm based in the UK and I hope to get in to picking mortice ( lever ) locks, so any help on getting started in this area would be appreciated, I looked a getting lever picks but I hear 2 in 1 picks are good, don't know which to buy.

Hey everyone, I'm new here.. I've never tried to lockpick before, never stolen anything (well, there was that one time, it was a stick of gum, I'm a badass).

I figured lockpicking would be a good, if unsavory hobby. Especially if you lose your keys.

If I lost my keys, I would much rather be a professional key impressioner rather than a lock picker =) I would hate to have to pick into my house and car and work 4 times a day!

It takes years to get to that level anyway. Maybe I'll see some of you there, maybe not, but this site is worth an in depth reading at the least. Hope to see some constructive posts from you guys!
