Yeah, Luke.
That really wasn't directed to those of you who make a living opening locks. In that situation, time is money, and I can understand whipping out the pick gun when you're having a bad picking day. For that matter (though I know there are those that will disagree, but I'm not a proffessional locksmith, so what do I know , I you could use the pick gun first every time for all I care if it made you a faster, more efficient locksmith. That's different. You're objective is different. But for those of us who are doing this for no other reason except that we love a challenge and the rush that comes with opening up a toughie, where's the fun in a pick gun? If your only objective as a hobbiest is to get past the lock, then a drill, crowbar, or car jack will be every bit sa quick as a pick gun.
Anyway, to each his own. Just my thoughts.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I dont make a living outta opening locks, i have made about 100 bucks by my self and about 80 with other lockies... But it is the truth, the locksmith i hang with uses hand tools, a couple of weeks ago, i did have to tell him to stop picking and pull out the gun (5 mins and no opening on a busy day) he didnt understand so i did it for him hahaha. But when we got it off the door we saw why, ... stiff lock, gunk filled, high low... EVIL!

Only 100?, so far i have made about $300 out of 4 months...yes i am a 16 year old bona-fide lockie
Most of my work is rekeying, installations, specialized lockouts, auto, and repairs + a little mk'ing.
The snap gun is only there to unstick locks , i have never had a pin lock i couldn't open in under 5 minutes.( which is sad really, i like a good challenge )

I have seen locks where anti drill bars from the front have been filed to be used as pins
