From link above:

...and how to open safes via drilling, burning bars, thermite and the European explosive method.

This should be an interesting discussion

Anything entitled B&E and no refunds should set off a few alarms. But what is this "thermite" they talk of?

OH, this should be a real interesting discussion :) MY thoughts on the matter are that books titled "B&E A to Z" have gotta have something interesting in them  Thank GOD for producers who create things like this, I'd buy a couple, and probably USE only two or three things out of it, but still good to have. And you've gotta love the mention of THERMITE!!!

Subliminal messaging......

The two videos shown are actually very good, although they are the US market, I've found them to be a great help. They don't show any Mortice locks with it being for the US but all the other locks shown apply to the UK. They show various picking methods and discuss Electric/ Manual pick guns aswell as showing how to pick locks using various picks. On the first tape they give information on the various types of safes available and how to open a couple. All in all, these are very good videos for any locksmith/ lockpicker to own.

Are they really worth $60 apiece though?

What price can you put on learning? They're a little expensive but as with all good things, comes a heafty price tag.

I own both videos and so here is a mini review:

The first tape is about 15 years old and the material is kinda dated, the announcer is best described as 'scruffy' and jokes are horrible. However, it has a large section on lock picking, including disassembling cylinders and even master key systems. It also talks (very) briefly about tubular locks/picks and auto opening. The section on safes is pretty weak and looks tacked on, but the early part of the tape does cover some basic bypass techniques like latch slipping and popping cylinders. Overall grade B- (graded up for Thermite, down for no Mazola ;-))

The second tape is a little more modern (about 10 years old) but shorter, only about an hour (the first is two). Even worse, they steal sections out of the first video, so if you own both, you are down to about 45 minutes of new material. However, it has some pretty good stuff, including a promotional video on the MULE tool (a commercial 'under the door' tool). As with most 'under the door' tools, just seeing it will let you make your own, if you are even a little bit 'handy' (I only mention this because I believe the MULE tools is no longer sold). It also has an expanded car opening video using some popular wire and plastic strip tools. It also covers some police destructive entry techniques like battering rams and door jam spreaders. Overall, the video is only slightly better made (think garage production) and the material is not very cohesive, but it has some pretty strong bypasses for certain select locks (age, however, keeps working against it here). Overall grade C.

If you are wondering why poor quality videos sold at a high price even rate as high as a B- or a C, it is because you can't find videos on bypass techniques very easily.

I'm sure that Keyprint are selling the Mule tool.

Good mini review Grudge, would you agree that these tapes are a good start base for someone learning lockpicking or thinking about becoming a locksmith?

The techniques shown are basic and you will find most methods writen in books. The vehicle entry methods are brushed over in both videos and again these are aimed at US vehicles.

These videos are available to anyone (non locksmiths), so if your looking for more advance techniques and more advance bypass methods then these are'nt for you, if you enjoy watching lockpicking videos then these are good starting point.

Good comments by Houdini. These videos are a fairly good intro to the field of locksmithing. Kinda unprofessional, but they cover a lot of the basics and give you some idea of how many different techniques are done.
