question about pins

im new at this lockpicking stuff. I read the mit info and i have a clear picture of a lock an wut to do. I know wut to do, but i dont know how to do it. How do i know if the pins are pushed up??what do i do with the pins that are up?
basically i need a pretty simple procedure in what to do.
my tools are alan wrenches an a paper clip(my friend told me its possible to lockpick with those)

You can tell if a pin is pushed up and at the shear line (aka 'set') by pressing it up with your paper clip, if it is set you will hear three distinct 'clicks' for each pin that you set. Best of luck. If you aren't hearing these clicks, the clock may be lubricated too well, if this is the case try flusing it with hair spray, I find the chemicals in it react well to the lubricant to have the desired effect.

O.K. ,

-What kind of lock are you picking specifically?
-You can pick a lock with what you have (provided you have filed down your allen wrench) but it will be more difficult than having a proper pick.
-You are looking for a very slight movement of the plug (your wrench) when the pin you are pushing hits the sheer line, you will often hear an audible "snap" as well, barring the feeling of these 2 things, you may just feel a release of pressure as you push up.

Your not going to learn this in a day, week, month, it is an ongoing process.

MCM, do you find that a lighter helps to see inside the lock when applying the hairspray?

The lock im working with is(im not sure what kind it is) its like a combination lock except no combination there is a key slot on the bottom. Its used for lockers and such

By the way what order do i go in for the pins, outside the lock to inside or inside to the outside of the lock.

Pick the pin that binds first. The one with the most pressure on it. Use light tension.

I would spend some time searching this site for the answers you seek. Otherwise people are going to floob you and you will end up burning your eyebrows off. Although humerous I am just looking out for you.

A hint for the search: put in what you are looking for and then select that you want all the terms found. then read the first page of results and that should about cover it.
