Ok, so as I said before I can pick this lock with 4 spools really quick--I'm down to less than a minute. The first pin is standard, and I set it first.

I'm now working on another similar lock; however, the standard pin is is the last position. I'm having more trouble with this configuration. On the first lock I could set the standard pin and feel the spools engage, and deal with them, whereas on this one the standard pin wont set until 3rd or 4th, and the spools I set before it always seem to unset.

Any advice?

You can try going a little heavier on the tension, or you may want to switch where you put the wrench. You may also want to try turning your wrench in the opposite direction to see if you get a different binding order.

hope that helps

i usually just try to set the regular one in the back first. they the spools are much easyer to deal with. it should set because it is the thickest driver in the lock. Due to the fact that ist is not modified.

That's what I thought too, but it really doesn't set! I finally got it, but I had to pick it in the other direction. It would have been the sort of situation that a plug spinner would have come in handy if I was actually trying to open something real.
