Pick Sets

Postby oshy » 19 Sep 2005 1:41

I'm new at lockpicking and was wondering what the best kind of set of picks would be to start off with. Money isn't that much of an issue but cheaper would be nicer..
So far I found this:
http://www.locksmith-tools.co.uk/acatalog/Slim-Line_Picks.html
The nine pick set. Is that any good?

Thanks

Hi oshy,

welcome to LP101! Please get used to use the "search" button before you post. (You question actually has been answered a bazillion of times )

You should also read through the FAQ as most of your questions will be covered there. You can find the FAQ at:
http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewforum.php?f=2

If you are not familiar to lockpicking I'd suggest to read the "MIT guide to lockpicking". Google is your friend

The animations at HowStuffWorks should proof useful too.

To answer your actual question:
The 9 pice set from southord should be fine for you. I'd suggest to have a look at a similar sized one from peterson thou. (go with the "Just picks" sets)
http://www.peterson-international.com/picksets-detailed.htm#Plastic

You might als consider making you own picks. There are tons of templates and photos for inspiration on this forum.

happy picking!
